Keeping up with Computer Science
presented by Kimberly  Lane Clark , Lancaster ISD
Description:  Every 21st century student should have the opportunity to learn computer science. The basics help nurture creativity and problem-solving skills and prepare students for any future career. Code.org has developed elementary school curriculum that allows even the youngest students to explore the limitless world of computing. Courses blend online, self-guided, and self-paced tutorials with "unplugged" classrooms activities that require that require no computer. For students new to computer science each course begins with a grade-appropriate entry point and structured ramp-up of concepts. The progression of courses A-F builds upon each other to ensure continuing students stay interested in new things. They will be studying programming concepts, computational thinking, digital citizenship, and develop interactive games or stories they can share
